“Great Pools & Pure Relaxing Experience!”

Amazing Hotel! Very calm, great service, many things to do! The pools where great, tou have cold and hot options. There is a Bar in the Pools and also Sushi Bar, very practicall. The Rooms are Villa Style, very confy. Also I enjoy the Gym and the Games room.

I preface this review that it was our own fault for not researching the hotel prior to arrival. We used a travel service to book all our hotels in Costa Rica. This is a beautiful and well kept resort with an amazing view of the volcano. Upon arrival we were greeted by the staff, given cool towels to wipe off and a complimentary drink of choice both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. These were exceptionally made. The front desk staff was happy and friendly as she explained the grounds and services. We were whisked away via golf cart to our two story cabin which was large and very accommodating for our family of five. The master bath had a large walk in shower and internal stone hot springs tub. There was also a large outdoor hot springs stone tub on the main patio. The beds were very nice and the room was clean. Cleaning services were excellent everyday. There was a wet bar with complimentary liquor and beverages and a fridge. (Complimentary one time use, pay for restock) Each room came with an umbrella, towels, toiletries, and laundry service (billable). The grounds have four pools a various temps and multiple swim up bars. There is are game rooms for both adults and little ones, a decent gym with a squat rack, HIIT bikes, dumbbells up to 50lbs, treadmills, and other equipment. A large playground area and field for sport and volleyball. While the resort is large, it is completely walkable. There are 4 restaurants at varying degrees of cost, a souvenir shop, and a coffee shop. People: super friendly staff. Caesar, the bar manager, was awesome and we talked to him during dinner for a good hour about him, his motor bike, and the volcano. He was the highlight. Service: high end and impeccable. Grounds: well groomed and beautiful. Price: this is MY opinion and where it was our fault for not researching. The cost of the resort I take no issue with. The restaurants menu costs is an issue in my opinion. While breakfast is included and the buffet is AMAZING, the other meal options are expensive. Our family of five (2 adults and kids 19, 15, & 11) couldn’t eat under $100. Even at Iguana’s bar (they he fast food restaurant) a quesadilla was $23 and a burger was $25. Liquor drinks ranged from $18-$25 per drink. Beer was $6. The Italian restaurant prices ranged from $20 up and the other main restaurant the prices ranged from $25 and up. The food was above average, but not at the level of the cost in my opinion. Also, there was no local food options on the resort. So buyer, plan ahead and understand that meals will be expensive at the resort. We took an U er into tal Fortuna ($6 each way) and dined there for a fraction of the resort cost.

Spent 5 days and 4 nights at the Arenal springs resort and spa and had very enjoyable time. Room - the room was large with 2 big beds and a decent sized shower room. It was very clean and tidy so we were very happy to get there after a long flight and transfer. On waking up the following morning, we also noticed what great view we had from the room. The gardens and then the volcano itself was a very enjoyable sight. Pool/s and hot springs - The pools were fairly small with a swim up bar separating them and were pleasant enough, not a massive amount of room to swim in if you're a keen swimmer but nice to get out of the heat in. The springs were of varying temperatures and a great was to relax and and unwind if you'd had a busy day hiking or similar. Food/restaurants - We were only paying for bed and breakfast but we thought the breakfast was absolutely first class! Very tasty produce, lots of variety and attentive and polite servers. One of us had a bad stomach for one of our days and was gutted she couldn't have breakfast that day. Staff - the staff were great at this hotel too. From the welcome drink to the waiters/waitresses and reception staff, all were very polite and went out their way to help. We had a trip on a certain day and it begun earlier than breakfast started. We asked if anything could be done at the reception the night before and they were going to get us a little breakfast made up to take on our trip. It just so happened we got a message from the tour operator that our trip was going to be made later as other people at our hotel had also not wanted to miss breakfast so they made the trip later and we were able to cancel the packaged one that was going to be made and eat as normal in the restaurant. We did pay to eat in the restaurant one evening and the food was again, very good. We loved La Fortuna as a place and if we were returning for another holiday, Arenal Springs Resort and Spa would most definitely be a hotel we'd return to.
